About Me
“You want to be in the place where, if God doesn’t show up, you’re in trouble…”
Tom Tanner spoke those words to a group of college students gathered in a campus ministry meeting that I attended years ago. At the time I don’t think I realized the magnitude of that statement, but over the years I have never forgotten those words. They remind me that my Creator, God (notice: big G), wants to be my Life. That no matter what I face or how I get there, He’s always there to carry me through, so that in the end, His name is made great. I don’t always succeed in trusting Him. To answer Dave Grohl’s question, my human nature gets the best of me, sometimes, and I revert to trying to control everything. But God reminds me that without Him I am nothing.
I am a firefighter by trade, pilot by passion, musician by gift, and adventurer by heart. And I love my family, both past/current, and those I have gained through Jamie, my Dovey, who I married on May 2, 2009. I thank God for all of them every day and know that I could not get through life without God’s grace through them.
I am a dangerously trusting person, though admittedly less than I used to be. I love people. I love watching people get excited about things that drive them. Things they are passionate about. G.K. Chesterton agreed with me when he said “there is no such thing on earth as an uninteresting subject; the only thing that can exist is an uninterested person.” I love to find out what drives people, what motivates them, and why they are who they are.
Jump in and follow me sometime — and I’d love to get to know you too.
